We build tech for startups. This means that you're working on different products every 4-8 weeks (sometimes going back for a phase 2 or 3 on the same one). We're very agile (not the kind of "agile" most co's are) and focus on solving the customers problem, not checking items off a spec. We give you lots of freedom, lots of responsibility and lots of support. We generally break up into 2-3 man multifunctional teams to get projects done fast, with everyone having a focus but ultimately working across the stack.
Our standard stack is Node.js (Mean, angular & ionic) but we also use Java for heavy lifting and Java/XML or Swift for Android or iOS. Having said that, we also experiment with other languages and try build at least 1 in 5 projects in something different - just to keep us fresh. Most of our key components get added to our open source repository so we can use them on other projects too. We've put up some of our most commonly used libraries here: playlogix.com/code
How we hire
- It starts with a coffee or beer with Roger. He looks at your attitude and skills to see if it'll be a match for our projects. [1hr]
- If it looks like a fit, you'll come in for a "xmas party" interview where you'll meet a bunch of the team and chat about stuff. It's a chance for you to ask them anything and them to suss you out, ultimately to decide if you're the kind of person they'll want to sit next to at the xmas party. [30mins]
- From that we run you through a skills test that will have you build pseudo code for a problem that fits your skills. You then chat through your thinking with one of the seniors about how you approached it. (This is normally done the same day as the xmas party) [30mins]
- Lastly, you'll meet with Roger to chat about the finer details, salary, and all the official stuff.
We're always looking for quality smart people with a range of tech skills as our projects are always varying. We also work with a number of long term freelancers who sit in our office.
The office is super relaxed, flexi-time means that some people start at 8:00 while others come in at 11:00. We play hacky sack almost every day, have an Atari in the boardroom and serve lunch. Did I mention our collection of 150 marvel superheroes?
We believe in building awesome products, fast. And always try to build what the client really needs. (Not what they think they need...)
