Developer FAQ

What does Offerzen do exactly?

OfferZen helps programmers find awesome jobs.

We flip the normal recruitment model, so instead of apply for jobs, companies send you interview requests with upfront salary and role info.

You start by creating an OfferZen profile, which is a developer focused CV. By default your profile will be hidden from companies (OfferZen is not a social network). When If you’re ready to start looking for work you apply to OfferZen by submitting your profile.

If you’re accepted a talent advisor will help you polish your profile and make it live. Companies will then be able to see your profile. If a company is interested in you they will send you an interview request, which includes salary and role info. You can choose to accept or decline the request.

If you find a job through Offerzen, we’ll give you a R5000 bonus to say thanks for using us.

Why shouldn’t I just apply to companies directly?

There are several advantages to using OfferZen for your job search:

  1. See what’s out there

We show your profile to 250+ companies, from exciting startups to established companies.

  2. See salary and role information upfront

Know exactly what the job, benefits and salary are before responding to interview requests.

  3. Connect with the right people

Technical managers and founders see your profile, making it much faster than applying directly.

  4. Support from an advisor

You’ll be paired with a Talent Advisor, who can help guide you on salary expectations, polishing your profile and preparing for interviews.

Do you only work with developers?

Yes. Right now we only work with developers who are looking for full-time work.

What things are you looking for in developers?

We’re looking for developers who can write real, production, code. We also want to see any relevant academic qualifications, but the most important attribute is the ability to write great code in real-world settings.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! It’s completely free to use OfferZen as a software developer. In fact, if you get a job through us we’ll give you R5000 and send you an awesome gift.

Can you find me an internship?

We’re currently focused on full-time positions. Occasionally we partner with students events like #breaktherules, but outside of those events we can’t help developers get internships.

Do I need a work visa?

Yes, currently we’re only working with developers who already have a work visa for South Africa. We recommend getting a critical skills visa as it’s not that hard to get if you’re a programmer.

Do you have remote opportunities?

Yes, but not many. Most of the companies hiring on OfferZen are hiring full-time in-office developers.

What is the process to apply?

Complete the signup process on www.offerzen.com. After signup you’re able to edit your profile and make any change you want.

Then submit your profile for review. Once you do someone on our team will review your profile to see if you’re a fit for OfferZen. You’ll receive an email with the outcome within 48 hours.

What happens if I get accepted?

After you’re accepted you’ll get introduced to your talent advisor. They’ll help you finish off your profile and make sure you’re presenting yourself in the best possible way.

When you’re ready your profile will become visible to companies. Companies interested in talking to you will send you interview requests.

What types of companies do you work with?

We work with tech companies of all sizes, from small teams with only 3 people to large companies with 1000’s of employees. You can see a full list of the companies here.

Do I have to accept a job offer if I’ve accepted the interview?

No. It’s all up to you. When you accept an interview request it doesn’t commit you to anything more than talking to the company.
